Discussion

The marriage of Christoph Kirmse + Justine Kratsch is recorded both in the Monstab church records and again in the Rositz church records. Apparently they were first married in the bride’s church, Monstab. Then either they were remarried a few days later or the marriage was just recorded in the groom’s church, Rositz.

Having the marriage of Christoph Kirmse and Justine Kratsch recorded at both Rositz and Monstab, Großröda helps clarify the origin of Justine and her father, Michael Kratsch.  Justine Kratsch is listed as being from Grossa in the Rositz records – marriage and birth/baptisms of her children.  Apparently  Grossa was short hand for Großröda.

A question is – was the Rositz record just a recording of the Monstab marriage?  Or, were Christoph and Justine remarried in Rositz?
